This beautiful reproduction porcelain temple jar is decorated in the classic Chinese blue and white glaze and takes the elegant form of the meiping, or plum vase. This example is glazed in the Ming Yongle style and features lotus and trailing peony designs, with decorative spirals on the base and lid.
The neck of the vase is adorned with a Yúnjiān cloud collar, while the side bears the inscription 製年德宣明大, meaning “proclaiming great virtues.” Hand-painted in deep cobalt blue, the decoration reflects the artistry and symbolism celebrated in Ming porcelain.
Handmade and hand-painted in small workshops in Jingdezhen - the historic centre of porcelain production since 1004 AD - this vase continues a tradition of craftsmanship passed down through generations. Blue and white porcelain, first produced in the Tang dynasty (618–907), remains one of China’s most iconic art forms, admired for its timeless elegance.
