Bleached Lattice Kitchen Cabinet From Tianjin - Late 19thC

This Chinese kitchen cabinet is made from elm and poplar wood. It dates from the late 19th century and its bleached look makes it fit perfectly into a modern kitchen. 

Originally they were used for storing and drying noodles and other foods.
Chinese cabinets are made with exceptional craftsmanship. The styles on 18th and 19th century pieces were often based on Ming designs that have a beautiful simplicity.
