Crafted with quiet simplicity and enduring strength, this rustic milking stool from Shanxi province dates to around 1900. It features a thick, solid elm seat with a beautifully aged surface, rich in grain and full of time-softened marks from decades of use.

The stool€™s angled legs and stretcher bars are assembled using traditional Chinese joinery€”entirely free of nails or screws€”ensuring lasting structural integrity. Originally used by farm workers during daily milking tasks, it now serves as a tactile and characterful accent in modern interiors.

Whether used as a low side table, plant stand, or occasional seat, its modest form brings warmth and authenticity to country-style, wabi-sabi, or minimalist settings.
