A Choba Dansu (merchants chest) from Yonezawa - Edo Period - circa 1850 Made from Zelkova Wood (Keyaki) on the front with a Cryptomeria (Sugi) box. The fittings & locks are made from iron - the keys are missing which is normal for a piece of this age.
