A 19th century Rajasthani tribal silver amulet depicting the Durga, the Hindu warrior goddess. She is also known as the divine mother & Durga the invincible. Durga is the embodiment of feminine and creative energy, however, she is often known as The Destroyer of hatred, anger, jealousy, and selfishness. The single eyelet at the top allows for suspension via a cord or chain. This amulet comes with a modern snake chain.
These traditional tribal silver amulets come from Rajasthan and are made by the repousse technique (hammering the design from the reverse). Although high silver content, these pieces are not always sterling silver. These amulets would have originated in temples and been worn by pilgrims.
