This 19th century Indian teak chest combines robust construction with expert carpentry, making it equally suited as a substantial coffee table or a blanket chest. The front is decorated with rows of hand-forged iron bindings and striking brass boss mounts, creating a bold geometric façade that reflects the practical elegance of traditional Indian craftsmanship. The gently domed lid is reinforced with iron straps and opens to reveal a generous single storage compartment, ideal for blankets, cushions or household items.

Inside, the original iron chain supports the lid when open, a thoughtful feature commonly found on quality antique chests of the period.
