This wonderfully characterful carved teak tiger panel originates from Gujarat and dates to the 19th century, once forming part of an architectural element. Depicting a stylised tiger with a pronounced rounded belly and an expressive, almost playful grin, the carving captures the distinctive charm and individuality often found in traditional Indian folk craftsmanship.
Rich in texture, the surface retains layers of its original painted finish, now beautifully worn to reveal the natural teak beneath. Subtle traces of pigment and patina enhance the depth of the carving, highlighting its sculptural quality. Mounted as a decorative panel, it makes a striking wall piece, full of personality and historic appeal.
