This impressive Indian architectural archway originates from Madhya Pradesh and dates to the early 19th century. Carved from solid teak in the Mughal style, it is double-sided which is considerably less common, with fully worked decoration on both faces. Such pieces were originally integrated into grand interiors, where they served as both architectural and decorative focal points, and very few survive in this condition today.

The arch is articulated with three scalloped Mughal arches supported by finely carved columns, each showing elegant proportions and restrained detailing. The teak has aged beautifully, developing a soft, warm patina that enhances the depth of the carving and speaks to its long architectural history. The symmetry and craftsmanship reflect the Mughal influence that spread across central India during this period, blending imperial aesthetics with regional woodworking traditions.

Monumental yet refined, this archway can be used to frame a doorway, divide spaces, or stand as a sculptural wall-mounted architectural fragment. Its double-sided carving makes it particularly versatile for open-plan interiors, where it can be appreciated from multiple viewpoints and act as a transformative centrepiece within a room.
