This 19th-century South Indian lintel panel is delicately hand carved from dense teak wood, the panel features a striking frieze of stylised peacocks and floral medallions - motifs deeply rooted in Indian temple and domestic architecture, where they signify beauty, fertility, and divine guardianship.
Originally placed above a doorway, this lintel would have greeted all who entered with auspicious imagery and craftsmanship. The deep relief carving, intricate chip work, and warm, aged patina reflect both the artisan€™s skill and the passage of time. Today, it would make a dramatic wall display or could be mounted above a fireplace or doorway as a unique heritage accent.
