This antique stone window panel hails from Dungarpur in southern Rajasthan, a region celebrated for its ornate palace architecture and finely carved sandstone work. Similar window panels can still be found in the Juna Mahal, the 13th-century hilltop palace of Dungarpur, famed for its richly embellished interiors and distinctive Rajput-Mughal fusion style.
Carved from local sandstone, the panel features a cusped arch framed by a pierced lattice of square openings - both decorative and functional, designed to filter light and air while preserving privacy. The natural weathering of the stone and the softness of its chisel marks add depth and texture, revealing centuries of exposure and use.
Mounted on a bespoke iron stand, it makes a striking sculptural element in any interior. Wall hangers can also be added free of charge on request.
