This antique Indian brass bound Indian chest dates to the early 19th century and is the perfect size for a coffee table. It is constructed from beautifully patinated sheesham wood (similar to rosewood) and has its original brass fittings and iron handles. Sheesham wood chests are less common to find as most Indian chests are made from teak.
The interior consists of one large space, a candle box, and a sturdy chain that prevents the lid from falling open and straining the hinges. The chest exterior is engraved with intricate chip carving and the wood has developed a wonderful patina over the years.
