These beautifully painted Indian doors with frame are from Gujarat and date to the 19th century. The painting is modern and is inspired by blue and white porcelain found on Chinese vases and is decorated with elephants, horses amongst floral designs.
Constructed from teak wood and iron, these sturdy antique doors have a beautiful lintel with deep floral and peacock carvings flanked by corbels. The vibrant blue and white painting is an exciting spin on traditional Indian painting.
These doors are saved from buildings in India that have fallen into a state of disrepair and are no longer in a repairable state. As with most Indian doors, they would have originally operated on a pin and post system and not on hinges. The frame has been customised to allow for hanging with modern hinges. They would have originally opened inwards.
We can provide assembly advice to your builders; however, we will need to discuss your hinge and hanging requirements before arranging delivery. Hinges may incur a small additional charge depending on your specifications.
