Indian Almirah Cabinet From Gujarat - 19thC

This solid rosewood 19^th century Portuguese almirah cabinet is an excellent example of the Indo-Portuguese blend of styles. Incredibly stylish and timeless, the sunburst panels are typical of the Portuguese style and have been expertly carved.

The core Portuguese occupation did not expand beyond Southern India, however, this cabinet comes from Gujarat further north showing how trade and styles transcended regional borders. 

The Mughal influence from Northern India is also clear with beautifully carved hoof feet and trailing floral designs throughout.
