This handsome antique Gansu sideboard dates to the 19th century and comes from the nomadic communities of Gansu and Northern Shanxi in northwestern China. Traditionally used for storing clothing, such pieces also functioned as altar cabinets, integral to family ancestor worship practices.

Its richly burnished red lacquer finish and elegant carved side spandrels showcase classic regional craftsmanship. With four internal compartments and a generously sized top, it works equally well as a statement console, sideboard, or media unit.
