This vibrant red lacquered sideboard hails from Dongbei (Manchuria) and dates to the 1920s. Characterised by its hand painted floral, fish, landscape and bird motifs, it exemplifies the artistry of northern Chinese decorative furniture.

The cabinet is constructed from pine wood, finished in layers of lacquer typical of the region, with ornate floral scenes across the doors and lower frieze panels. It has two double hinged doors that lead to a large interior with a single shelf.
