This antique pine flower stand comes from Tianjin in Northern China and dates to the 19th century. Originally crafted as a support for vases of flowers, these stands were most often made in pairs, their slim, open form designed to complement the beauty of the arrangements they carried. The pale, timeworn surface of the pine wood gives this piece a soft, understated character that works well in both traditional and modern interiors.

The stand features a useful drawer with its original brass ring pull and a lattice base, which would once have supported plant pots or decorative vessels. Today, it makes an excellent side table or lamp table, and pairs beautifully with contemporary seating or beside a bed.
