An early 19th century Anglo-Indian brass inlaid rosewood writing slope, with fitted interior in a Regency style. 

This is pretty blonde Rosewood box is a fantastic example of exceptionally high-quality Indian craftsmanship.
Fitted with a tooled tan leather skiver on the slope.
It also contains an array of delightful compartments, including one that€™s secret (it is fitted with a spring release cover).  

These compact sloped lap desks were used by wealthy ladies and gentlemen and officers in the military theatres of the 18th and 19th centuries in India.

Perfect to pen private correspondence and write reports.

Indian boxes and chests were made bespoke, so they can be an extraordinary variety of styles reflecting the many cultures that influenced India.
