This robust old Indian brass bucket bears a punched Devanagari inscription reading नागपुर म्युनिसिपल कौंसिल १९५४ (Nagpur Municipal Council 1954). It has been stamped 'B.M.1' at the handle lug, and was issued for official municipal use in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Built from heavy-gauge brass and fixed with copper rivets, it was designed to withstand years of service in public works. The warm, timeworn patina tells of decades of use, while fine incised rings and a solid rolled rim add a subtle elegance to its otherwise utilitarian form.

With its riveted swing handle and municipal provenance, this piece is not just a functional object but a tangible artifact of India's civic history. Today, it would make a distinctive coal scuttle, log bin, planter, or display piece - carrying with it the story of the city it once served.
