Each stone jali or jharokha window was once part of a larger architectural composition — carved from golden sandstone and finished with hand-chiselled latticework that allowed light and air to pass through while preserving privacy and calm. These pieces are admired today as architectural wall art or integrated into garden and restoration projects.

The jali — or pierced screen — represents the highest refinement of Indian stone carving.
