These are woven in Ende on the southern coast of the east Indonesian island of Flores. Sarong or sarung denotes the lower garment worn by Southeast Asian men and women which is stitched at the narrower edges to form a tube.
The design is typical of Flores Ikat and the size of the piece is exactly the size of a handloom. 85years old and dyed with natural dyes.
The stitching could easily be unpicked, so it could be used as a throw.
