This striking early 20th century sancai copper-glazed terracotta spouted vase from Yunnan displays the rich, flowing glazes characteristic of southern Chinese pottery. The vessel has a tall, elegant form with a rounded body, flared neck, pouring spout, and a sturdy loop handle—features that suggest it was originally used as a wine or oil ewer.
The surface is finished with a deep green copper glaze, streaked with darker flowing lines created during firing. These natural glaze runs give each piece a unique character, pooling and cascading down the body in dramatic vertical trails. Decorative incised bands around the shoulder and a gently scalloped rim add further detail, while areas of exposed terracotta at the base reveal the hand-thrown nature of the piece.
