Indian Folk Art Tiger Panel from Rajasthan

This large-scale painted tiger panel presents a contemporary interpretation of Rajasthani folk art. It features a stylised tiger set within a simplified, ochre-toned landscape. The flattened perspective, rhythmic striping, and sparse tree forms reference rural painting traditions from western India, where imagery was often graphic, symbolic, and decorative in intent rather than naturalistic. The tiger motif has become widely recognised in European interiors in the late 20th century, popularised through the work of designer Jaime Parlade.
