This old framed Japanese woodblock print dates from the Edo period, 1856 reframed by our skilled team in a simple matt black wood frame.

The print by Utagawa Kunisada I is entitled 'Actors Kataoka Gadô II as Arakiya Gokyô and Iwai Kumesaburô III as Segawa, a Courtesan (Yûkun) of the Matsudaya' from the play 'Hitokanade Kodakara Soga.

The full diptych is visible in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
