This old Japanese woodblock print is by renowned woodblock print artist Utagawa Kunisada (1786 - 1864) - also known as Toyokuni III. The print is #29 entitled 'Hashidate' from a set entitled 'An Excellent Selection of Thirty-six Noted Courtesans (Meigi sanjûroku kasen).

The inscription on the print states: 'Hashidate, a prostitute, known by her generosity & noble courage.'

Dating from 1861 - Edo Period these old prints have been reframed by our skilled team in a simple matte black wood frame.
