This beautifully carved and colourful antique Indian lintel panel depicts the Hindu goddess Lakshmi flanked by detailed and deeply carved peacocks and elephants. This form is known as Gajalakshmi or Gajalaxmi. Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of prosperity and consort of Vishnu and alters her form to accompany him on each of his incarnations.

This 19th century lintel panel is carved from a single piece of wood and the detailed carvings are layered with years of orange and blue phases of paint.

Supplied fitted with wall hangers.
