This striking 19th century Gujarati figure is hand-carved from solid teak, capturing a seated male form with remarkable character and presence. The figure is depicted in a traditional cross-legged posture, wearing a stylised turban and simple adornments, reflecting regional craftsmanship and cultural identity. Layers of beautifully weathered original paint—soft turquoise blues over warm earthy tones—have aged gracefully, creating a richly textured surface full of depth and authenticity.
Likely once part of a larger architectural or decorative element, this sculpture now stands alone as a unique decorative piece. Its expressive face and sculptural form make it an eye-catching addition to any interior, whether displayed on a console, shelf, or as part of a curated collection.
