Carved wood tika box from Rajasthan - with swing lid. This has the original painting. Tika and Chopra boxes were used to store coloured pigment powder. Each morning and evening when Puja - Hindu prayers are performed a red mark which is called a tika or bindi is placed on the centre of the forehead and sometimes holy figures and chests used by the family. Ofteen decorated with parrots or peacocks.
