These tribal silver amulets come from Rajasthan. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find original pieces such as these. The amulets are silver (not necessarily sterling silver) and are made by the repousse technique ( hammering the design from the reverse). They depict Hindu gods, goddesses and figures from Hindu mythology.
This particular amulet depicts the Hindu goddess Kali, protector of the innocent who vanquishes evil and is the consort of Shiva.
