Cabinets of this type were also used as altar cabinets for family ancestor worship.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOriginally constructed with a closed front and accessed through a hatch in the top, the cabinet has subsequently been adapted with front-opening doors, making it far more practical for use today. Two lower drawers provide additional storage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe most distinctive feature is the wonderfully preserved painted decoration. The two doors depict detailed courtly administrative scenes with groups of figures and officials within architectural settings.
