The spandrels are decorated with large painted flowers and celestial motifs, including the \u003cstrong\u003esun and crescent moon\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eFour carved and painted female figures sit at the upper ends of the supports, each holding what appears to be a musical instrument. Above, the central crest is particularly striking, with a pair of beautifully carved \u003cstrong\u003epeacocks\u003c\/strong\u003e facing one another on either side of a decorative finial. Turned and twisted columns, small balustrades and layers of carved architectural detailing complete the design.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe original paint has naturally worn and distressed over more than a century, revealing earlier layers and the timber beneath.
