Stick boxes were used by the desert dwelling tribes of West Rajasthan.
Wood is very scarce in the desert and the resourceful tribes people of Rajasthan made these boxes from sticks harvested from the Kair tree - Capparis decidua. The sticks are then riveted together with iron fittings to make a very sturdy box.
These boxes were used as dowry chests and are unique to this area of India.
