Brass Measure From Orissa - Dokra Work - 19thC
Dokra metal casting is one of the oldest traditional techniques of metal casting in India and uses the lost wax casting method.
The mould is made from strands of beeswax which is then covered in clay.
Each piece requires a new mould as it is destroyed during casting.
This gives each piece its own unique character.
