Japanese Cabinet - Japanese Dansu - Meiji Period

This beautifully patinated and very striking Kuruma Dansu on wheels is from Yonezawa and was used for storage of valuables.
Made in traditional style with two sliding doors at the top & and at the bottom. As it is such a large piece it is fitted with wheels.
The body is made from Cryptyomeria and the apron is Zelkova, the raised framework is Catalpa. All original iron corners and lock-plates. Meiji Period - Late 19thC
